The Peace Zone Sporting Club, coordinated by Billa Angdembay and some other youths, was established on July 1, 2012.

The Peace Zone Sporting Club consists of youths from the Bhutanese community living in Akron.

Members of the club approached the BCAA board candidates during the election on July 28, 2012 to introduce themselves and discuss ways that the Bhutanese Community Association of Akron and the Peace Zone Sporting Club might coordinate in the future.

This year, the club participated in an inner-city soccer competition with seven other cities from four states.  They won the final against Pittsburgh and received $811 of prize money which they used to buy uniforms.  They have also been playing friendly matches with nearby cities like Cleveland, Erie, and other teams from the local community.

The club also collected $211 for the family of the late Karma Tamang.

Mr. Angdembay encourages any Bhutanese youths who are interested to join the club.

This club is an excellent outlet for our youths.  The name itself emphasizes one of the benefits of the club which is to provide meaningful activities for our kids.  Such activities lessen the chances they will get involved in negative lifestyles.

It will also keep them fit and active.

The BCAA board and Peace Zones Sporting Club will be sitting together in the near future to establish rules and regulations for the club.
