Suicides among Bhutanese refugees who have resettled in the United
States appear to be higher than rates experienced in refugee camps in
Nepal and higher than rates established by people in the United States.
![]() It is very difficult to predict who will commit suicide, but if you know someone who - Talks about wanting to die or to kill themselves - Looks for a way to kill themselves such as searching online or buying a gun - Talks about feeling hopeless or having no reason to live - Talks about feeling trapped or in unbearable pain - Talks about being a burden on others - Increases their use of alcohol or drugs - Acts anxious or agitated - Behaves recklessly - Sleeps too little or too much - Withdraws or isolates themselves - Shows rage or talks about seeking revenge - Displays extreme mood swings |
